My name is Kim Baines and I breed Oriental and Siamese cats, in the UK, under the GCCF registered prefix SAIKOU, which is supposed to mean “Supreme” in Japanese. I wanted something to describe the Oriental and Siamese kittens I hoped my queens would have. I am based in Camberley on the Surrey/Hampshire border. |
At present I have three queens, two oriental studs and a number of assorted neuters. All my cats have full run of the house with access to an outside run for fresh air.
I prefer my girls to have only one litter a year, to ensure that they can fully recover between births, believing in quality and not quantity. I also try to have more than two litters in the house at any one time, as I believe it is impossible to give the kittens, their Mums and our existing family of cats the love, care and attention they deserve. |
My aim is to breed kittens who are happy, healthy, well adjusted individuals. Although, I show my cats from time to time, and strive to produce the perfect show cat, I do not believe in comprising health for type under any circumstances. |
My family has been owned by one or more Siamese for as long as I can remember. My first ever cat was a half black Siamese who I named Othello and I also inherited his mother, Rhea, a chocolate point. Sadly Rhea died of mammary cancer in 1988, three days before my birthday, leaving poor Othello an orphan and an only cat.
The morning of my birthday, I was awoken, by the deepest of meows to see a tiny lilac oriental face, with a huge green bow around his neck. That was my beautiful Jazz, and so the obsession began…………… |
